Underfloor Heating

Underfloor heating is becoming more and more popular.......it is practical, cost-effective and flexible. Underfloor heating utilizes heat conduction and radiant heat rather than forced air heating which relies on convection. The heat is provided by warm water circulating under the floor through a network of pipes via a manifold which is above the ground usually located out of sight but close to the boiler and central to the heated area. Underfloor heating can be used with concrete and wooden floors, at ground level or upstairs. All types of floor coverings can be used although some work better with the underfloor heating system, examples of floor coverings are (starting with the most effective for this system) - Ceramic tiles / flagstone, Vinyl, timber, and the least effective Carpet. With the underfloor heating system there are no restrictions to furniture placement, and curved walls and full height glazing is not a problem with new-builds and extensions. Underfloor heating initally is more expensive to install than radiators but it has lower running costs, higher comfort and will add value to the building, once installed the system is almost zero maintenance, the only components needing attention as with any heating system is the boiler, circulating pumps and any system controls. With underfloor heating the body is heated from the floor up, this imparts a feeling of natural warmth which is perfect, since ideally your limbs should be warmer than your head. In a nut-shell with underfloor heating the floor acts as a massive storage heater, allowing the stored energy contained to dissipate radiant heat upwards to create the perfect living environment.
The best way to incorporate underfloor heating with an existing heating system is to separate the system into 3 zones, ie. the radiators, the hot water and the underfloor heating. With this set-up you will have full control and it allows independent time and temperature control of the 3 different zones. With UFH you will have to have your boiler practically on all the time as it takes hours for the floor slab to heat up and to cool down, believe it or not but UFH systems operate more efficiently on the basis of continuous operation. One drawback however, is that it is not as easily controlled as a conventional heating system with radiators alone and is not 100% practical for every situation/heating system.

Basins with Semi Pedestals

Half pedestals are becoming very popular when it comes to new bathrooms, en-suites and bathroom upgrades. If you have a small floor area in your bathroom/en-suite by fitting a wall hung fixture it will give the impression of more space. This look is very contemporary and stylish similar to the way modern hotel bathrooms are designed, and it gives the impression of luxury. For MPG the look of having no pipework shown in a bathroom is a priority in an upgrade or a new installation, there is nothing worse than having spent a lot of money on good quality fixtures & fittings and expensive tiling to have pipes exposed taking the whole look of your bathroom/en-suite (have a look in the gallery at some of the basins with semi pedestals) please contact Master Plumbing & Gas for more information.

Shower Booster Pumps

Everybody wants a powerful invigorating shower and by fitting a shower booster pump that is excatly what you will get, you will wonder how you ever managed without it, clients of MPG have said that when they have had to shower elsewhere without the aid of a booster pump, they can not believe the difference in their normal showering experience with their booster pump. Most mixer type showers in modern homes are gravity fed, the pressure on these shower systems is based on the height of the water storage tank in the attic, and this is usually only around 0.2 bar (ie. every meter is equal to 0.1 of a bar) so 0.2 of a bar is when your attic tank is sited apprximately 2 meters above your shower. Shower booster pumps come in variety of different pressures (1.0 bar - 4.5 bar) matched to what your requirements are. So based on the earlier calculation, by fitting a 2.0 bar pump, it is the same as having your water storage tank fitted 20 meters or approximately 65 foot above your shower. Gone will be the days of dancing around to get wet, and you can enjoy the shower of your dreams with softly cascading aerated bubbles that will drench, caress, re-invigorate and refresh you at the beginning or at the end of a hard day. Go to our plumbing section for more information on booster pumps. please contact Master Plumbing & Gas for more information.

Large fixed Shower Heads

There is no point in having a powerful shower with a small shower head, you will not be getting the full benefit of the showers pressure and if you have a shower booster pump fitted you may even be getting a spray pattern from the shower that is not very comfortable, by fitting a larger shower head (ie. 6 inch/150mm) you will spread the shower spray and you will feel the benefits giving the impression of a larger volume of water and a more invigorating showering experience.

Corner Baths

People today are changing the look of their existing bathrooms, and by moving around a few fixtures it is possible to fit a corner bath and then possibly a separate shower tray and doors. A corner bath in a bathroom makes a bathroom look more interesting and exciting, it is also possible to have a corner bath in the style of a whirlpool bath. These baths look good in any setting, especially when you have the lights dimed and the candels lit. Please contact Master Plumbing & Gas for more information.

Whirlpool Baths

People who want to unwind in luxury are fitting whirlpool baths with up to 14 jets, these baths have also got other benefits including Hydrotherapy which is very important for some people with muscular ailments. Some of the more expensive whirlpool bath systems are available with additional foot and back massage jets, so go on, splash out and treat yourself to a little bit of bathing luxury.

Bodyjet Showers & Steam Cabins

People today are spending more time pampering themselves in their bathrooms with whirlpool baths etc. and for people who would not use a bath regularly they are going for showers with bodyjets, drench showers, foot massagers, steam outlets, aromatherapy oils, radios, CD players, phone & internet, TV screens and even disco lights!! All these facilities are available depending on your taste and budget (have a look at some of the pictures in the gallery).......(under construction, MPG)

Designer Rads & Towel Rads

Its not enough these days just to have a ordinary radiator in your home, on the market today there are many different shapes, sizes and colours of radiators available, heated towel warmers are very popular when a bathroom is being renovated and they come in different colour finishes the more popular being white or chrome and they look great when the pipes are hidden in the wall giving that showroom look.......(under construction, MPG)

Double sized Shower Trays

The trend these days is to have large showering areas with pleanty of space, and for some baths are out the window replaced with large shower trays shielded with lots of glass and chrome.......(under construction, MPG)

Wall hung Toilets

To increase visually the floor area in a small bathroom or ensuite you can fit wall mounted fixtures including toilets.......(under construction, MPG)

High Efficiency Gas Boilers

To save money and the environment replace you existing gas boiler with a high efficiency condensing gas boiler, these boilers are up to 35% more efficient than standard efficiency gas boilers......(under construction, MPG)

Solar Panels & Cylinders

Many people today are opting for solar panels, but before the installation price for solar panels comes down many house holders are fitting the hot water storage cylinders first in their hot press and then adding the solar panels at a later date. These cylinders work off your heating system like you existing cylinder and they have 2 other connections separate for a solar panel set up........(under construction, MPG
